Day 3- A game of three halves

Grub up time

Had a lovely cuppa with these kind folk in their cockpit

We were up with the amazing sunrise!  5.30. Who said sailing was fun?  Wind was in the wrong direction for us to get out of the anchorage and the channel too tight to tack- so we had to sail it into the shingle harbour wall and walk DS out - mud and sharp banks not helping. Once out we popped up the spinnaker and headed off round Hurst Point. Took the inside channel and headed west towards St Aldhelm. The spinnaker could stay up so we made excellent progress.

From Hurst to just outside Lulworth Cove we made excellent progress either two sail or three sail reaching the whole way. As we were beginning to think we might make Lands End in an afternoon the wind switched off completely for about two hours. It was so frustrating watching the tracker show us heading backwards after such a good start.

Eventually the breeze filled in from the NW and built to a decent F4 and we were able to make good time past the Shingles off Portland Bill before tacking and heading for, we thought, Lyme Regis. The wind had other ideas and, perhaps fortunately, we ended up in Bridport.

Bridport is great.... It has a chip shop. The harbour let's a bit of swell which made the e night a little bumpy. But a good evening with great neighbours ... Shout out to Angela and Steve in D'angela (a very nice ship indeed)
